Reviews & Press

Grosse Klasse. (Ian Matthew Castro in the role of Roméo, somewhat reminiscent of Anastasios Vrenios in the coloring of his voice, sang the phrases of his great aria “Ah!  lève toi soleil!”  with a beautifully lyrical suppleness, whereby he reached the top notes in the “Voix mixte” with confidence, so that on the last high B he even allowed himself to start the note piano and then let it swell.  Great class.)

(Ian Matthew Castro, new to the Bern Theater ensemble, presents as Tamino a bright, powerful tenor with plenty of mellowness, light metal and that certain something in his voice.)
