Bulgarian stage director Vera Nemirova has been named Director of the Year 2026 at the inaugural International Thracian Classical Music Awards, founded by opera star Sonya Yoncheva. The distinction highlights Nemirova’s long-standing international career and her acclaimed productions across Germany and Europe, as well as her ongoing collaboration with the State Opera Varna.
A regular guest director in Varna, Nemirova continues to shape compelling operatic narratives on some of Europe’s leading stages. Her latest production of Faust, based on Goethe and conducted by Svetoslav Borisov, will be presented on March 28. While tickets for the live performance are nearly sold out, audiences worldwide can still access the production via livestream on 7Arts.bg, with the recording available for 48 hours after the broadcast.
