On March 5 Timur Zangiev made his Teatro alla Scala debut, conducting Tchaikovsky's "Pique Dame".
Replacing Valeriy Gergiev in the pit, Timur Zangiev was praised for his "confidence, accurate and skilled direction, in total symbiosis with the singers and the dramaturgy" (Resmusica).
"Zangiev delivers a refined and clear reading of a complex score, a coherent and clear fluidity, richness and at the same time liveliness, achieving a polite sound and pastel shades from the Scala Orchestra [...] In Zangiev's conducting, iron technique, stylistic rigor, exquisite interpretive sensitivity and timbre plasticity - which the audience is very fond of - coexist happily" (Connessi all'Opera)
Timur Zangiev will also conduct the remaining performances on March 8, 13 and 15.
