OperaWire has named baritone Boris Pinkhasovich "Artist of the Week" for his upcoming role in the new production of Donizetti's "Lucia di Lammermoor" at the Teatro alla Scala. Pinkhasovich will be playing the role of the villainous Enrico, showcasing his talent in another Bel Canto role.
This production was originally set to be his Teatro alla Scala debut, but Pinkhasovich made a surprise appearance in Puccini's "La Bohème" four hours before the show started in March. The baritone expressed his joy, honor, and gratitude to the people who believe in him and gave him this chance.
OperaWire was advised of several recordings that showcase Pinkhasovich's mastery, including Gounod’s "Le Tribut De Zamora" and Eduard Lalo & Arthur Coquard’s "La Jacquerie." He is also set to record five CDs for Naxos with works by Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Glinka, Rimsky–Korsakov, and Mussorgsky.
Congratulations, Boris! We can't wait to see your performance in "Lucia di Lammermoor" at Teatro alla Scala this Thursday.
