We are delighted to welcome bass Matthew Anchel to our management roster. Matthew’s upcoming engagements include returns to the Metropolitan Opera and Arizona Opera, where he will appear as the Second Armored Man in Die Zauberflöte, Hilarion in To Die For at Nederlandse Reisopera, and Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia with Opera Omaha.
Recent seasons have seen him in standout performances such as Bartolo (Le nozze di Figaro, Opera San José), Sarastro (Die Zauberflöte, Arizona Opera), and the role and house debut of Vanuzzi (Die Schweigsame Frau, Bard SummerScape). Additional notable appearances include Banquo (Macbeth, Stadttheater Giessen), Lamberto (Pia de’ Tolomei, Spoleto Festival USA), Der Diener (The Miserly Knight, American Symphony Orchestra), and Bass Soloist in Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 at Carnegie Hall.
A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, Matthew has earned distinction in major U.S. vocal competitions, including recognition as a Grand Finalist in the 2013 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. His accolades also include prizes from Palm Beach Opera, Opera Index, the George London Foundation, and the Loren L. Zachary Competition.
