Recent engagements include parts such as Bartolo Le nozze di Figaro in Opera San Jose, Sarastro Die Zauberflöte in Arizona Opera, role and house debut of Vanuzzi Die Schweigsame Frau at Bard SummerScape, Banquo Macbeth in Stadttheater Giessen and Lamberto Pia de' Tolomei during Spoleto Festival USA. Concert engagements also included Der Diener The Miserly Knight with American Symphony Orchestra and Bass Solo Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 in Carnegie Hall.
A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, Matthew Anchel has been recognized in major U.S. competitions, including as a Grand Finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (2013). Additional honors include 3rd Prize at the Palm Beach Opera Competition, the Judges Award from Opera Index, an Encouragement Award from the George London Foundation, and Finalist & Encouragement Award distinctions from the Loren L. Zachary Competition.
