After fifteen years of performing together while building internationally acclaimed solo careers, Lukas Geniušas and Anna Geniushene now formally unveil their identity as the Geniušas Duo — a rare and radiant artistic and romantic partnership in the world of classical music.
Between them, they have garnered top prizes at the Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Van Cliburn, Leeds, and Busoni International Piano Competitions, a distinction that makes them the only married piano duo where both artists are laureates of the world’s most prestigious piano prizes.
Their debut album as a duo, Hallelujah Junction, will be released by Alpha Classics on April 25, 2025 — marking the symbolic birth of a "binary star" system: two brilliant pianists in dynamic orbit, aligning their individual artistry into one powerful shared vision.
This bold and stylistically rich program pays tribute to the ever-evolving landscape of American music, featuring iconic works by Gershwin, Stravinsky, Copland, and McPhee — a vibrant fusion of classical tradition, jazz idioms, and global musical influences. The album also includes the spectacular and rebellious Fourth Ballad from Frederic Rzewski’s North American Ballads, culminating in its title work: John Adams’ Hallelujah Junction — a modern masterwork that captures the duo’s rhythmic vitality and magnetic interplay.
In parallel, the Geniušas Duo champions rare orchestral repertoire for two pianos, with thrilling works by Bartók, Poulenc, Martinů, and McPhee — offering a bold and underrepresented programming dimension for orchestras and festivals.
Celebrated individually for their virtuosic power and lyrical insight, Geniušas and Geniushene bring to their duo performances a singular artistic synergy — rooted in trust, intimacy, and a shared musical pulse.
With Hallelujah Junction, the Geniušas Duo opens a new artistic chapter — where two solo stars shine brightest together.
