Rising Opera Director Aileen Schneider Wins Prestigious Götz-Friedrich-Preis 2025

Acclaimed stage director Aileen Schneider has been awarded the prestigious Götz-Friedrich-Preis 2025 for her extraordinary production of Aribert Reimann's MELUSINE at Oper Frankfurt. The jury's unanimous decision recognizes Schneider as one of the world’s most exciting directorial talents under 35.

For over twenty years, the Götz-Friedrich-Preis has been one of the most important institutions for promoting outstanding talent in musical theatre direction — previous laureates include Stefan Herheim, Nadja Loschky, Sebastian Baumgarten, and Yuval Sharon. Aileen Schneider now joins the ranks of previous laureates who have gone on to redefine the landscape of international opera, including Stefan Herheim, Nadja Loschky, Sebastian Baumgarten, and Yuval Sharon. 

The prize will be presented on November 10, 2025, at Deutsche Oper Berlin.
