Tenor Mauro Peter is enjoying wonderful press for his performances as Tamino on the current Zauberflöte tour with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, which has brought him to Bremen, Hamburg, Dortmund, and now to the Enescu Festival in Bucharest.
The press praised his “lyrically flowing tenor that sounds enchantingly soft in the upper register” (Online Musik Magazin) and highlighted his ability to shape Tamino’s aria “Dies Bildnis ist bezaubernd schön” with “buoyant legato and cultivated portamento” while keeping “the pathos noble” (Kulturfeder.de).
Further acclaim described him as “one of the outstanding singers in Dortmund’s Zauberflöte” (Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung) and as a Tamino sung with a “radiant, powerful tenor voice” (Hamburger Abendblatt).
The final performance of the tour will take place on September 7 at the Enescu Festival in Bucharest — an especially meaningful evening, as it will mark Mauro Peter’s 100th performance as Tamino.
