We are delighted to announce the release of a new album by violinist Elvin Hoxha Ganiyev, featuring both violin concertos by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. Recorded with the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen under the baton of conductor Howard Griffiths, the album is available today on all major platforms.
The recording brings together two works that span more than two decades of Mendelssohn's creative life: the Violin Concerto in d minor, composed in 1822 when the composer was just thirteen years old, and the celebrated Violin Concerto in e minor, Op. 64, completed in 1844 — one of the cornerstones of the Romantic violin repertoire. Heard side by side, the two concertos reveal the full arc of Mendelssohn's artistic development, from the classical clarity of his prodigious youth to the emotional depth and formal mastery of his maturity.
Elvin Hoxha Ganiyev brings both technical brilliance and interpretive conviction to this programme. Born in 1997 into a family of distinguished musicians, he began studying the violin at the age of five at Bilkent University and made his solo debut at eight with the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra. Today he performs regularly with leading orchestras and conductors across Europe and beyond, steadily establishing himself as one of the most compelling young soloists of his generation.
He is joined by Howard Griffiths, a British-Swiss conductor of wide international experience who has worked with ensembles including the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre National de France, the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. His partnership with the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen brings authority and refinement to this recording, providing an ideal musical foundation for Ganiyev's solo voice.
