Classic FM has released its list of "Rising Stars: 30 sensational musicians performing in 2023." We are thrilled to congratulate mezzo-soprano Aigul Akhmetshina on being named number one on the list of extraordinary young talents.

The "Rising Stars" list is compiled with the help of industry experts, including renowned cellist and conductor Julian Lloyd Webber. He said, "It's a privilege to see and hear so many wonderful young classical musicians, and we are really excited by the multi-talented variety of our latest 30 trailblazers!" Aigul's exceptional talent and stage presence have undoubtedly contributed to her being recognized as one of the most exciting rising stars in the world of classical music.

This is a remarkable achievement for the 26-year-old break out star, whose talent and dedication to her craft have been recognized by one of the world's most prestigious classical music stations.

Aigul made her debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden at the age of 21, performing the titular character in Bizet's Carmen. Since then, she has graced international opera stages in Paris, Berlin, Barcelona, and Madrid. Her most recent role as Rosina in the Royal Opera House's production of Rossini's The Barber of Seville, was met with overwhelming critical acclaim.

The Times described her voice as “seamless, luscious quality from top to bottom. ” Clive Paget reporting for The Guardian gave Akhmetshina’s performance in Il Barbiere  “Chief vocal honours” describing her Rosina as possessing  “burgundy lower register and pinpoint coloratura [which]  are matched by impressive reserves of power.”

We congratulate Aigul on this well-deserved recognition and wish her continued success in the future.
