Jared Mac Werlein joins TACT

We are delighted to welcome American bass-baritone Jared Mac Werlein to the TACT roster!

A graduate of the Juilliard School and winner at  both the 2025 Zenith Opera Competition and The Opera Foundation Award (2024/25), Jared is quickly establishing himself as a compelling stage presence with a versatile voice and commanding artistry.

From the 2024/25 season, Jared joins the ensemble of Deutsche Oper Berlin, where his roles include Curio in Giulio Cesare and Admiral Lefort in Zar und Zimmermann (both new productions), as well as Zuniga (Carmen), Harašta (The Cunning Little Vixen), König (Der Schatzgräber), Antonio (Il Viaggio a Reims), Fouquier-Tinville (Andrea Chénier), Quince (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Bartolo (Le Nozze di Figaro), Der Pfleger des Orest (Elektra), Steuermann (Tristan und Isolde), and Sciarrone (Tosca), among many others.

Recent and upcoming guest appearances include Lodovico (Otello) with the Berliner Philharmoniker under Sir Donald Runnicles, Ashby (La Fanciulla del West) for Korean National Opera, Leporello (Don Giovanni) at the Chautauqua Opera Conservatory, Handel’s Messiah at the Aspen Music Festival, and Benoit / Alcindoro (La Boheme) at Music Academy of the West.
