Dorothea Herbert's remarkable artistry has garnered critical acclaim, with the Westdeutsche Zeitung describing her voice as charming and warm, filled with passion. She has achieved significant milestones in her musical journey, including being a finalist in the 2014 Wagner Society Singing Competition in London and holding the title of Richard Wagner Scholar in 2016. Dorothea graduated from Trinity College of Music in London and completed her studies at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the Opera Studio at Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, in collaboration with the Welsh National Opera in Cardiff.
In recent years, Dorothea Herbert has graced the stages of numerous European opera houses. Her roles range from Senta in "Der Fliegende Holländer" to Donna Anna, Salome, Rusalka, Leonore in "Fidelio," Eva in "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg," Elsa, Rosalinde, Elisabetta in "Don Carlo," Agathe, Chrysothemis, and Arabella.
In 2021 Dorothea made her Glyndebourne Festival debut as Leonore in “Fidelio.” She also impressed as Sieglinde at Staatstheater Darmstadt, Salome in Krefeld, Agathe in “Der Freischütz” at Staatstheater Mainz and Staatstheater Kassel, Senta at the State Opera in Prague and at Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Elsa in "Lohengrin" at Staatstheater Darmstadt, Gerhilde in “Die Walküre” at Semperoper Dresden with Christian Thielemann, Rusalka at Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe.
The next new production with Dorothea Herbert in the title role will be Salome at Staatstheater Braunschweig.
