We are delighted to welcome Ukrainian-American baritone Oleksandr (Alex) Ilvakhin to our management roster. Alex recently completed a two-year residency at the Vienna State Opera, where he collaborated with many of the world's finest conductors and stage directors. He has sung ten roles there to date, including Yamadori (Madama Butterfly), Moralès (Carmen), and Schobiak (Le Grand Macabre), while also making his role debut as Conte Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro at Schloss Walpersdorf. He next joins Florida Grand Opera as Masetto (Don Giovanni), and looks forward to debuts at many of the world's finest theaters in coming seasons.
Alex has won prizes at international vocal competitions, most notably the Certamen Nuevas Voces Ciudad de Sevilla (2nd Prize, Special Award Fundación Victoria de Los Ángeles, 2022) as well as the Tenor Viñas Competition (Mercedes Viñas Extraordinary Prize, 2024). He was also awarded the Pavarotti Prize of the Royal Academy of Music (2023) and came to international attention as The Voice of Ukraine (2018).
Before coming to Vienna, Alex was educated at the Odessa College of Arts and Culture, the Nezhdanova National Academy of Music, and Royal Academy of Music in London.
We are very pleased to begin this collaboration and look forward to supporting the continued growth of his international career.
