We are delighted to welcome rising tenor Aaron Godfrey-Mayes to our roster.
A versatile artist with a growing international career, Aaron’s upcoming and recent engagements include Don Ramiro in La Cenerentola at the Bregenzer Festspiele and English National Opera, as well as Tamino in Die Zauberflöte at the Hamburg Staatsoper. He also appears as Giuseppe in La Traviata at both Hamburg Staatsoper and Bregenzer Festspiele, has performed excerpts of La Cenerentola at Teatro La Fenice Venezia, and returns to Bregenz for the World Premiere of Passion of the Common Man by Daniel Bjarnason, directed by Netia Jones..
During his time as a member of the Opernstudio at Hamburg Staatsoper, Aaron sang more than thirteen roles, among them the Young Sailor in Tristan und Isolde, the Shepherd in Salome, and Graf Albert in Die Tote Stadt, working with conductors including Kent Nagano, Alexander Soddy, Paolo Arrivabeni, and Giedrė Šlekytė. He has also performed Ferrando in Così fan tutte with the Covent Garden Chamber Orchestra and Ali in Adina at the Wildbad Bel Canto Opera Festival.
Equally active on the concert stage, highlights include Handel’s Messiah with Jyväskylä Sinfonia, Weill’s Kaddish at Hauptkirche St. Jacobi, Hamburg, and Bach’s St. John Passion on tour in South Korea with the Dudok Ensemble. He has also appeared in St. Matthew Passion, B Minor Mass, Mozart’s Davide Penitente, and Mendelssohn’s Christus, alongside collaborations with ensembles such as the Händelfestspielorchester Halle.
