Biography highlights

Rubén Amoretti, of Italian-Spanish parentage, has focused since his tender age on the Hispanic repertoire. Between 1982 and 1989, he worked chiefly with Spanish ensembles taking part in various festivals (Madrid, Avignon, Paris, Munich, Lisbon, Mexico City). 

 

After studies of opera singing in Switzerland with Maestro Nicolai Gedda and the United States (Indiana University), he obtained his first engagement, by Arriaga Theatre in Bilbao (Barbier of Seville). He has so far appeared on many operatic stages (Zurich, Berne, Geneva, Lausanne, Palm Beach, Venezia, Rome, Napoli, Palermo, Madrid, Valladolid, Jerez, Moscow, Paris, Toulouse, Avignon, Metropolitan, and others). 

 

His repertoire encompasses an extensive gallery of roles, including Don Giovanni and Leporello (Don Giovanni), Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro), Mephistopheles (Boito, Gounod, Berlioz), Ramphis (Aida), Zaccaria (Nabucco), Philip II (Don Carlos and Inquisitor), Sparafucile (Rigoletto), Don Basilio (Il Barbiere di Siviglia), Raimondo (Lucia), Dulcamara (Elisir), Alvise (La Gioconda), Escamillo (Carmen), Colline (La Bohème), or Scarpia (Tosca).

 

He has worked with many renowned conductors (Zubin Mehta, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, James Levine, Marcello Viotti, Bruno Bartoletti, Guiseppe Sabatini, Alain Lombard, Nello Santi and others), and has performed opposite José Carreras, Alfredo Kraus, Agnes Baltsa, Roberto Alagna, Juan Diego Flórez, Giorgio Zancanaro, Juan Pons, Ramón Vargas, Inva Mula, Daniela Dessi. He had his Metropolitan debut in november 2016 in L’Italiana in Algeri (Mustafa).
