Biography highlights

A member of the ensemble of Nationaltheater Mannheim since 2014, Andreas Hermann’s recent performances comprise his debut with great success as Herodes in Salome, Florestan in Beethoven's Fidelio, Pollione in Norma and Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly.

Upcoming appearances include Der Kaiser in Die Frau ohne Schatten and Ein Sänger in Der Rosenkavalier among others.

 

His operatic repertoire includes the title role of Mozart's Idomeneo, King Admète in Dietrich Hilsdorf acclaimed production of Alceste, Goro in Schumann's rarely performed opera Genoveva, and the role of Dionysus in H.W. Henze's The Bassarids. At the Staatsoper Stuttgart he performed Kudrjas in Katja Kabanova and Ferrando in Così fan tutte. Guest engagements also took him to Gothenburg (Fenton), Wiesbaden (Ferrando), Mannheim and Saarbrücken (Tamino), Bern (Don Ottavio), Schwerin (Lyonel in Martha, Alfred and Tamino), Cologne (Rosillon), and as a singer in the Rosenkavalier for Komische Oper Berlin, Lensky for Staatsoper Hannover and return in Frankfurt as Alfred.

 

Andreas Hermann was first engaged by Stefan Soltesz as a lyrical tenor at the Aalto-Theater Essen, where he developed a wide-ranging repertoire: Ferrando in Così fan tutte, Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Nemorino in L'elisir d’amore, Fenton in Falstaff, Nadir in Les Pêcheurs de Perles, Lensky in Eugene Onegin, Alfredo in La Traviata, as well as helmsman in The Flying Dutchman, Glad in Das Rheingold, Lysander in Britten's Midsummer Night's Dream, the painter in Berg's Lulu, Toni Reischmann in H.W. Henze's Elegy for young lovers, and Kalil in the world premiere of The Arabian Night by Christian Jost.

 

Born in Rottweil am Neckar, Andreas Hermann first studied industrial engineering at the University of Karlsruhe. He then studied voice with Prof. Reginaldo Pinheiro in Karlsruhe and Freiburg, with Paolo de Napoli in Florence, and was supervised by Prof. Fenna Kügel-Seifried.
