Sergio Escobar’s recent and future engagements include the title role in Verdi’s Don Carlo at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino conducted by Zubin Mehta, Radames in Aida Teatro Comunale di Bologna, his Russian debut as Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana in Saint Petersburg conducted by Marco Guidarini, Don José in Carmen in Florence under the baton of Ryan McAdams, his debut as Gabriele Adorno in Simon Boccanegra at the Hungarian State Opera in Budapest. He will sing immediately afterwards the same role at Teatro Comunale di Bologna conducted by Andriy Yurkevich.


Additional future engagements include Pollione in Norma at Teatre Principal de Palma (Mallorca), Don José in Florence for the 18-19 season, Arvinio in Verdi’s I Lombardi at Bilbao Opera (ABAO) and Don Carlo at Las Palmas Opera.


Verdi’s Don Carlo at Teatro Luciano Pavarotti in Modena and Piacenza with stage direction of Joseph Francone Lee and conducted by Fabrizio Ventura in the Modena five acts version. Corrado in Verdi’s Il Corsaro under the baton of Gianluigi Gelemetti at Teatro Verdi di Trieste. Verdi’s Don Carlo and Oberto title roles at Oper Frankfurt next to renowned sopranos Tamara Wilson and Maria Agresta conducted by maestro Renato Balsadonna. He made his debut at Teatro Regio di Parma as Ismaele in Nabucco next to maestro Renato Palumbo. He performed for the first time at Teatro Comunale di Bologna as Pollione and Ismaele conducted by maestro Michele Mariotti. He made his debut as Manrico in Il Trovatore at Theatro Municipal de São Paulo. Mr. Escobar made his debut at Teatro Nacional de São Carlo of Lisbon in the title role of Donizetti’s Poliuto. He also performed as Foresto in Attila at Teatro Verdi di Trieste, Radames in Macerata opposite Fiorenza Cedolins and Sonia Ganassi, Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana in Florence, Don Carlo at the New National Theatre in Tokyo, Pollione in Seville at Teatro de la Maestranza, Cavaradossi in Tosca opposite renowned Spanish baritone Carlos Álvarez in Córdoba, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly for the Nederlandse Reiseopera, Riccardo in Un ballo in maschera at Como, Brescia, Pavia and Cremona. He performed as Pollione at Teatro Verdi di Trieste opposite Marina Rebeka under the baton of maestro Fabrizio Carminati and made a successful debut at Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires as Macduff in Verdi’s Macbeth with Dimitra Theodossiou and Vladimir Stoyanov conducted by maestro Pietro Rizzo. He has been also invited to cover the roles of Pinkerton and Don Carlo at Teatro alla Scala working with prestigious conductors Riccardo Chailly and Myung.Whun Chung.
