Debuting Argentinean tenor Santiago Ballerini was outstanding as Almaviva, his high tenor — with high C’s to burn — is reminiscent of a young Juan Diego Florez. Here’s another artist that I for one would love to hear again in Toronto.
Quanto al Conte d’Almaviva, spesso l’anello più debole nell’opera rossiniana, il tenore italo-argentino Santiago Ballerini, dotato di buona voce e buon commediante, mostra qua e là qualche esitazione, ma in linea di massima sostiene bene la parte, e affronta con spirito la scarsità di physique du rôle.
Le ténor Santiago Ballerini (applaudi dans Don Pasquale et le Requiem de Mozart) plante un Comte Belfiore énergique, vocalement charpenté, viril et autoritaire, avec des projections droites, fortes, aiguisées et fermes.
