Lucia di Lammermoor - Raimondo

A powerful bass, precise, also very involved, with a pleasantly warm and velvety tone (we would listen to his "Dalle stanze ove Lucia" over and over again)

Reviews & Press

CD - Donizetti - Lucia di Lammermoor - Raimondo

“… Mariano Buccino obtained a well deserved personal triumph: a splendid voice, as Ghiaurov, measured and scrupulous acting. Congratulations, a great singer…

- Paolo Arreghini

… the crowd favorite was certainly Buccino who gave to the audience an excellent Raimondo: authoritative and gentle, he has filled with his voice the ears of those who were in the audience (more than one “Bravo Mariano")

- Roberto Capizzi, , Il Becco

... Surprisingly, to share with [Lucia] the final ovations of the audience was the remarkable Raimondo interpreted by Mariano Buccino. Appearing on stage like a Sherlock Holmes, he is intent on reading and smoking his pipe. He showed a perfect adherence to the character, but above all he enchanted for the quality of the voice, round, pasty and
powerful, for the phrasing, the softness, the purity of the articulation [...] of authentic ovations, even with an open scene...

Nino Rota - Napoli Milionaria - Gennaro Iovine

… Expressive, comical and moving at the same time was Mariano Buccino in the role of Gennario Iovine (staged and interpreted by Eduardo de Filippo in the original version of the drama). The young bass, making his role debut, was convincing for his heartfelt interpretation as well as for the pleasant timbre and the musical accuracy of each of his interventions, up to the last act, in which he is almost unrecognizable both in appearance and intentions. The horrors of the war have transformed and hopelessly disillusioned him: “non è finito niente” ("nothing is over"), repeats Gennaro with his eyes lost; also, the deliberate absence of any timbre or expressive inflection helps to freeze the audience, showing a remarkable and, above all, a non-trivial psychological evolution of the singer-actor. A well-deserved and obvious success for him during the curtain call …

Bellini - Norma - Oroveso

… Another affirmation of talent comes in the form of Mariano Buccino (Oroveso), who has established himself as one of the most captivating basses thanks to the wide and well-controlled voice volumes, his broad range of expressive abilities always skilfully executed and his indisputable vocal quality and technique …

… The role [of Oroveso] is well interpreted by Mariano Buccino. He is a bass with an elegant voice that easily fills the entire audience. He possesses a beautiful colour of voice, noble and concise phrasing and great attention to dynamics which we greatly appreciated both in his opening aria and in the second aria sung in pianissimo for the entire duration of the second strophe. He was particularly captivating in the final scene of the second act when his love for his daughter made him lose that hint of austerity...

- Pj Jorillo , Il giornale del Lazio

… Mariano Buccino delivered an outstanding interpretation of Oroveso. His voice is secure and he has an impressive stage presence. We can expect to hear more about this promising young Neapolitan singer in the top opera houses …

Nino Rota - Napoli Milionaria - Gennaro Iovine

The complex role of Gennaro was well interpreted by Mariano Buccino. The bass has a strong and warm voice that allows him, thanks to his acting ability, to interpret the friendly southern man in the first act to then become the insane and suffering military in the final part of the opera.

Nino Rota - Napoli Milionaria - Gennaro Iovine

… Mariano Buccino's Gennaro Iovine [has] a dark, deep and well-timbred voice that is well projected throughout the audience. He is clear in the Neapolitan diction and credible in outlining the war veteran devastated by the horrors he has seen on the battlefields …

Bari Teatro Petruzzelli - Verdi - Bari Teatro Petruzzelli - Sparafucile

Teatro Carlo Felice – Verdi - Il trovatore - Ferrando

A fine performance by Mariano Buccino in the shorter (but not secondary) role of Ferrando. A well-timbered voice with a nice low range [...] Buccino draws a noble and measured Ferrando even in the scene of the capture of the gypsy where it is easy to fall in the theatricality.

Un plauso va senz'altro a Mariano Buccino, un Ferrando ben più che convincente, dalla solida linea di canto e il porgere sicuro.
Apraise goes undoubtedly to Mariano Buccino, a Ferrando far more than convincing, from the solid line of singing to the secure declaim.
