Opéra Royal de Wallonie - Verdi - I Lombardi alla prima crociata - Pagano
Au cœur de l’histoire se trouvent deux frères, Pagano et Arvino, rivaux pour obtenir le cœur d’une femme. Le premier, véritable fil rouge du drame auquel Verdi offre la plus longue présence scénique, est interprété par Goderdzi Janelidze. Ce grand méchant (il tue son père en cherchant à assassiner son frère) devenu ermite aux pouvoirs miraculeux, s’exprime ici d’une voix sépulcrale et vibrante, dont le médium très large emplit la salle.

En dépit de certaines notes un peu « fixes » (surtout dans l’aigu), Goderdzi Janelidze convainc en Pagano, dont il traduit bien l’ambivalence (brutal au premier acte, repenti et en quête de pardon aux trois derniers).

Ottima voce anche quella dell’altro georgiano del cast, il basso Goderdzi Janelidze nella parte del traditore Pagano che poi diventa eremita, la bella sorpresa della serata, voce che tuona, piena, autorevole, si avverte però nel fraseggio che non comprende l’italiano anche se la dizione è buona.
