Andreï Popov se révèle un Mime truculent à souhait, sans gestuelle outrancière ni voix ridiculisée avec excès, se servant du texte pour donner tout son piquant au personnage.
Après un premier acte légèrement engorgé, Popov fait de nouveau des prouesses en Nibelung retors, trouvant le juste milieu entre art vocal et jeu scénique.
Andreï Popov campe un Méphistophélès, et de manière plus retenue un Agrippa von Nettesheim, de saltimbanque. Il se donne en spectacle, de manière outrancière et outrageante, mobilisant un organe sonore et ductile jusqu’au cri. Le timbre est doré comme une icône orthodoxe.
