Alexey Birkus incarne Rodolfo avec brio. La basse à l’assurance sereine, noble, sensible au charme féminin, se double d’un excellent comédien au jeu toujours juste. La voix, sonore, bien timbrée lui permet d’imposer le Comte avec bonheur.

À Colline, Alexey Birkus prête le grain sombre caractéristique des belles voix slaves et une sensibilité qui transparait dans chacune des notes de l’arioso « Vecchia zimarra, senti ». Le chanteur biélorusse y donne à entendre un timbre grave mais juvénile qui, a contrario d’une tradition gênante qui fait parfois de Colline un barbon égaré au milieu des autres bohémiens plus jeunes, séduit autant qu’il impressionne.
