We’re excited to announce that the American tenor, Christopher Sokolowski,  known for his “shimmering velvet voice” and “Wagnerian power and stage savvy” (Ôlyrix), is joining our roster.

In the 2023/24 season, Christopher wowed audiences with his debut in the title role in Verdi’s Ernani at Theater St. Gallen, earning rave reviews for his dynamic and nuanced performance. Looking ahead, he will debut as Lohengrin at Theater Bremen, perform Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin under Vladimir Jurowski, and return to the Staatsoper Hannover to take on the role of Manolios in Martinů’s Greek Passion.

Christopher’s versatility is evident in his past roles, including Siegmund in Die Walküre, Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus, and Tamino in Die Zauberflöte at Theater St. Gallen. He impressed audiences as Wagner and Neréo in Boito’s Mefistofele at the Staatsoper Hannover,  as Ken in Vito Žuraj’s Blühen at the Oper Frankfurt. He lent his voice as the tenor soloist in a staged production of Verdi's Messa di Requiem and appeared in the title role of Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito in Bregenz, and brought the Prince in Prokofiev’s The Love for Three Oranges to life at Des Moines Metro Opera.

A grand finalist in the 2023 Paris Opera Competition, Christopher has been honored with the Rohatyn Great Promise Award at the Metropolitan Opera National Council Competition and the Hermann Leopoldi Musikpreis in Vienna’s International Otto Edelmann Competition.

Originally from New York’s Hudson Valley, Christopher studied at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music and the Purchase Conservatory. His extensive concert repertoire ranges from baroque to contemporary works, and he has performed in cities across the United States, Europe, and Japan.

We’re thrilled to have Christopher on board and look forward to supporting his continued growth and success. Welcome, Christopher!
