Conductor Mikhail Tatarnikov joins TACT

We are thrilled to announce that conductor Mikhail Tatarnikov has joined our artist roster. 

His recent and upcoming engagements further exemplify Tatarnikov's artistry and versatility. Earlier this month, he debuted at the renowned Semperoper Dresden with a captivating performance of Tchaikovsky's "Pique Dame." In 2023/24 he will be returning to the Opéra National de Paris to conduct Massenet's "Don Quichotte". 

Notable past engagements also include his debut at the prestigious jubilee of the Salzburg Festival with the Mozarteum Orchestra, "The Demon" at Gran Teatre del Liceu, engagements with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, "Samson et Dalila" at Théâtre des Champs-Élysées with Roberto Alagna and the Orchestre National de France, "Boris Godunov" at Opéra de Monte-Carlo, "The Snow Maiden" at Opéra de Paris, "Manon Lescaut" at Staatsoper Berlin, "Prince Igor" at Staatsoper Hamburg, and "Věc Makropulos" at San Francisco Opera. Tatarnikov collaborated with acclaimed artists like Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov in a series of gala concerts that captivated audiences in Japan, China, Seoul, Australia, and New Zealand.

Tatarnikov's profound musicality, combined with his ability to bring out the unique qualities of each composition, has garnered praise from critics and audiences alike. Reviewers have hailed his company debut at Semperoper Dresden as a resounding success. Thomas Thielemann from ioco.de commended Tatarnikov for his exceptional command over the orchestra and chorus, allowing them to flourish and deliver a powerful and emotionally charged performance. The review also highlights Tatarnikov's ability to balance the modernity of Tchaikovsky's tonal language with the score's sober clarity.

Christiane Franke from magazin.klassik.com praised Tatarnikov's interpretation, describing it as a mesmerizing blend of affect-driven realism and sensitive lyricism. The review emphasizes the conductor's meticulous attention to detail and his ability to convey the diverse range of emotions exhibited by the opera's protagonists. The addition of the Saxon State Opera Choir further enriched the sound, creating a monumental and visually evocative experience.
