We are thrilled to announce the addition of remarkable young talent, Colombian conductor Sebastián Almánzar, to our agency's roster.
Described as a "young talent" by the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, Sebastián Almánzar has already made significant strides in his career. His musical journey began at the Eafit University in Medellin, Colombia, where he studied conducting under the guidance of professors Cecilia Espinosa and Alejandro Posada.
In January 2020, Sebastián's exceptional abilities were acknowledged when he was awarded the 2nd Prize at the European Union conducting competition in Bulgaria. He made his European debut in September 2020 as a guest conductor of the Pazardjhik Symphony Orchestra. Furthermore, Sebastián had the honour of conducting the Vienna Symphony Orchestra as a finalist in the Assistant-conductor audition, conducted under the baton of Maestro Andrés Orozco-Estrada.
In April 2022, he made his debut with the Medellin Philharmonic Orchestra, followed by a captivating performance with the Orchestra from the "Estudio Polifónico de Medellín" in September.
In 2023 he finished his Master in Conducting in Vienna giving a concert at the Musikverein Theater with the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien.
Also this year, Sebastian conducted the l'Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège (OPRL) (Belgium) and the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra (Denmark) as he was invited to audition for the assistant conductor position.
He will also work as assistant conductor with the French conductor Marie Jacquot during the season 2023/2024 alongside the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
