Congratulations to tenor Anton Rositskiy and stage director Alexey Frandetti - this year's winners of the Golden Mask Award! The the 26th Golden Mask Award ceremony honoring theaterical achievement took place in Moscow on November 10th.

Tenor Anton Rositskiy has been presented with "The Golden Mask" in the Best Male Perfromance category for his impressive portrayal of Don Alvar in Vustin's only composed Opera "The Devil in Love".

The  "The Devil in Love" had it's world premier on February 15, 2019 at the Stanislavsky and Nemorovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theatre under the baton of Vladimir Jurowski and with the composer himself working closely with the ensemble.

Rositkiy's portrayal and technical proficiency were true standouts in the production, as one critic has noted:  "Anton Rositskiy is easily taking both lower notes, normally difficult for a tenor, and unbelievably high C, given by the composer to Alvar." - rewizor.ru

Alexey Frandetti received his 3rd Golden Mask this year in the directing category for his work on the musical "Stilyagi"  at The State Theatre of Nations.  Previously, he was awrded the top directing prize in 2018 for  his staging of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at Moscow Taganka Theatre and in 2016 for "O’Henry Christmas" at the Pushkin Theatre, Moscow.

"The Golden Mask" is one of the most prestigious Russian awards, established in 1994. Every year the prizes are awarded to outstanding productions in drama, opera, ballet, operetta / musical and puppet theatre.
