Il viaggio a reims wins production of the year

Opera Australia's production of "Il Viaggio a Reims" was recognized as the “Production of the Year” at the 2020 International Green Room Awards. 

2019/20 season's staging of Rossini's comedy was Juan de Dios Mateos' house debut as Chevalier Belfiore,  who "sang with great beauty and virtuosity" (The Conversation). 

"Green Room Awards" is Melbourne’s premier peer-presented, performing arts industry award. Since the inaugural ceremony held in 1984, the award set out to recognise "outstanding achievements in productions from Cabaret, Contemporary & Experimental Performance, Dance, Independent Theatre, Music Theatre, Opera and Theatre Companies". The 37th Annual Green Room Awards Ceremony was held online on April 7 2020.
