Biography highlights

Currently, Assistant conductor at the Opera national de Paris, Music Director of the Symphonic Orchestra of Orleans and Music Director of the Region Centre Youth Orchestra, Marius Stieghorst was previously Principal Conductor and Deputy of the Music Director of the Osnabrück Opera in Germany.

 

His most recent and future projects include Die lustige Witwe, Cosi fan tutte, Moses und Aron, Don Giovanni, Iolanta/Nutcracker for Opera national de Paris, his Semperoper Dresden debut with Die Fledermaus as well as Die lustige Witwe at the Nationaltheater Mannheim and his debut at the Royal Danish Opera with La bohème.

Further engagements are the highly acclaimed Michael Haneke’s production of Don Giovanni and Giogio Strehler’s Le Nozze di Figaro at the Bastille Opera. At the Palais Garnier he collaborated with the Paris Opera Orchestra on a new production of Die Entführung aus dem Serail. He also led a new production of Don Giovanni at the Opera de Montpellier, the new productions of Werther, Die tote Stadt, Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Die Zauberflöte, The Tsar’s Bride and Don Pasquale in Osnabrück and Graz, and many revivals in both theatres: Otello, Eugene Onegin, Turandot, Tosca, Ariadne auf Naxos, Tannhauser, Don Giovanni, Cosi fan tutte, and Nabucco among others.

 

His regular concert engagements include collaborations with the Hamburger Symphoniker, the Orchestre symphonique d’Orléans, the Atelier de musique de Deauville, the orchestra of the Lauréats du conservatoire (CNSM), the OstinatO’s orchestra, the Orchestre of the Paris Opera and the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia. He performed concerts in Graz with the Meistersinger Vocal Competition (AIMS) and conducted the Youth Orchestra of the Land of Schleswig-Holstein and the Orchestra of Rheinland-Pfalz. He made his debuts with the ensemble intercontemporain (Histoire du Soldat) and recently with the Vienna Symphony.

He frequently appears as pianist in recital and chamber music.


Born in Kaiserslautern, Germany, Marius Stieghorst studied piano and composition at the Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik, Karlsruhe. He was granted scholarships from the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes and the  Wagner’s Association in Bayreuth.

Si la presencia del ballet podría hacer pensar en una minusvalía de lo musical esto no fue así. La segura dirección orquestal, desde el clave, de Marius Stieghorst concreta una versión ligera, con vuelo, ágil: La respuesta de la Orquesta se pliega a la sutileza Mozartiana a la perfección y el equilibrio entre el foso y la orquesta está siempre asegurado.

Con sutileza y perfecto estilo el maestro Marius Stieghorst -director musical asistente de la Ópera Nacional de París- condujo la faz musical. La respuesta de la dúctil orquesta se plegó con excelencia a las bellas melodías de Lehár, al encanto del vals, el ritmo endiablado del can-can o a los aires centroeuropeos, mutando del ritmo lento al desenfrenado siempre con calidad.

Un enthousiasme visiblement partagé par les interprètes lyriques et les musiciens. La direction musicale du chef allemand Marius Stieghorst a, de l’ouverture au final, frôlé la perfection. L’orchestre a sautillé, vrillé, valsé de concert avec la scène et comme fusionné durant les deux heures trente de spectacle. On en aurait presque demandé une deuxième ration ! Le troisième acte, en particulier, avec l’arrivée des grisettes – le bondissant « Trippel-trippel, trippel-trap » des coquettes et coquines Lolo, Dodo, Joujou, Cloclo, Margot, Froufrou – et la résolution des intrigues, est un rare moment de folie douce.
